Friday Playdate

Friday we went to the Dean's and had lunch. Emily and Katy had fun running around and playing while Stephanie and I caught up. Aren't these girls adorable?!

Busy Weekend

We  have used the past two weekends to work on the kids rooms. Katy got a new bed and her room was transformed into a "big girl" room and we turned the office back into a bedroom and is now a nursery. Katy was very helpful in putting furniture together, but didn't quite like all of the change.

She was upset that the rocking chair was moved out of her bedroom and into the nursery. I promised her that even though its not in her room, that I will still rock her whenever she wants. She seemed ok with that and has asked me once to rock her since the move. Despite a few meltdowns, she is even more excited for this baby. I hope she can keep the excitement even after this lil one has arrived, because I think she is going to be disappointed she doesn't have an instant playmate when we bring baby home.

Good thing she has her own tools to help Daddy!

Helping Mommy sort baby clothes.

Barbies

Katy has been enjoying playing with all the Barbie stuff that I saved from my childhood. This weekend Barbie dined out at McDonald's. Katy and Grandma always have a good time together!!

COSI

This Friday our field trip was to COSI. It was Katy's 1st time and I hadn't been since grade school - it was an experience!

Papa Metzger would be proud - she loved the little house and enjoyed building and fixing up the place. "Mommy - I'm not done yet...I'm still fixing stuff!"

This little girl wanted to "drive" the car so bad and she asked Katy to share as soon as Katy sat down in the drivers seat. Katy shared but as you can see she wasn't happy about it. Her look says it all!

Snack time and enjoying the 60 degree day!

The pulse drum which mimicked your heart beat. As you see in the next picture, she was just so excited about being here and was WOUND UP!

I had to check out my pulse once she let go and mine was only 80...I was in desperate need of a nap!

Playdate with Mommy!

On Friday the 5th, Katy and I were off to check out a new place that I heard about from a friend. We went to Recreations Outlet. Its an indoor playground where you can try out their swing sets, trampolines and toys, but also a great place for the kids to get out their energy during the winter. To say the least, Katy thoroughly enjoyed herself and I loved watching her run around playing like a maniac!

We finished off our date with lunch at Wendy's...the girl loves her cheeseburgers and oranges!

Florida 2010

We recently got back from a week in Florida and it was a great trip! It was a mini Walton family reunion. Todd, Katy, my Mom (Grandma Kathy) and I went to spend time with Great-Grandma Dena Walton. Todd's Dad (Papa Lin - from Missouri) and his aunt's (Stevie and Lynn - from Lake Tahoe, NV) joined us as well! It was awesome to be in the sunshine, spending time with family and best of all we celebrated Katy's 3rd birthday with relatives that don't normally get to spend Katy's birthday with her.

I took so many pictures that I've decided to attach the entire album for you to view.

Happy Valentines Day!

Katy got a Valentine box from Nana Neise and Papa Lin all the way from Missouri - and let me tell you...she was SO EXCITED!!

She wanted to surprise herself while Daddy cut the box open, so she closed her eyes.

She got Valentine tattoos, hair clips, stickers, marshmellos, stickers and lots of yummy treats!! She was mostly proud of her new Hello Kitty stuffed animal!

On the phone telling Nana and Papa thank you and how much she loves her stuff!

Movie time!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking Katy to the movies for the 1st time. We went to see "The Princess and the Frog" and it was a blast! We had popcorn with M&M's and I almost think she liked the snacks more than the picture. Luckily we were 2 of the 4 people in the theatre so when she got a little restless, she was able to walk some energy off by going up and down the stairs and didn't really bother anyone. The only thing missing from the experience was Daddy, but he had to work:(

Growing Up...

Katy turns 3 on February 21st and as usual, I can't believe how fast the time from when we brought her home to now has passed. This girl is so darned independent and has been for such a long time, I feel it's been a decade since she was a baby and let me take care of her and she relied on me more. She has always been wise beyond her years and amazes me daily with her wealth of knowledge for such a little girl!

As parents of a child so independent, it has been challenging for Todd and I, because she always insists on doing everything herself. And the attitude that comes with that is well...lets just say unpleasant at times. She is 3 going on 14 at moments. It definitely foreshadows the teenage years to come, especially when those hormones start to kick in.

On the other side of it, I can really take this girl anywhere and she adapts so easily and we always have fun! She can converse with other adults and they've always understood what she wants, needs or thinks. This also makes parenting easier because she has been able to tell me since the age of 1 what hurt on her, or what she wanted to eat, or what she likes and doesn't like and I always know what is on her mind:)

She is very excited to meet her baby sister on the way and talks about her daily. Just yesterday she told me a story on how she can't wait to feed the baby and make the baby all of her favorite foods like "macanoni n cheese". Although once I explained to her that it will be awhile until the baby ate real food she was a bit disappointed and then insisted she will help out with bottles instead. I know she will be a great help in being an extra hand for us when we need it because she loves to help!

Well this post has taken a different turn than I initially set out, so I'll get back to my point.

As most of you know, Katy carries a ni-night with her (its a little blanket with a giraffe on it that she has had since birth). She toted it around with her more as a baby, but in the past year or so she only takes it to bedtime, nap time or when she is relaxing watching TV or riding in the car. It's her comfort blanky and I've always thought it was sweet. Lately she has insisted on leaving it at home if we have errands to run, which always makes me nervous. This is because she loves to suck on her 2 fingers and hang on to her ni-night while jamming to tunes and we've always had it around when we are traveling. We have left it behind a few times and some days she gets upset half through our adventure out and some days she could care less she has it until its time to sleep.

Well today when I dropped her off at the sitters, she insisted I leave it at home and I didn't follow instruction. You all know that at nap time there would've been that one thing missing and one thing that girl needs is a good nap...or evening time just isn't very much fun with crabby-Katy. So yes I brought it just in case! I stuck it in my pocket and tried to slyly give it to Dru as I was leaving and I got caught! She instantly gave me "the" look and was very upset with me and told me I didn't listen (wonder where she's heard that before?!). Luckily I thought quickly on my feet and convinced her that Dru should watch over ni-night so the kitties at home wouldn't play with it and she actually thought that was a good idea. She loves those kitties but doesn't not like it when they get in her stuff. Moral of the story...I guess I should let Katy take the lead and grow up on her own terms but I can still outsmart that little girl every now and again too!!

It's a challenge, but one I love to wake up to everyday!!

Work it girl!!

We leave for Florida next week, so I recently bought Katy a new swimming suit. She loved it so much she didn't take it for the rest of the evening! She enjoyed posing and showing off her suit and now she just can't wait to get to the beach! Although, I just hope its warm enough there to play on the beach and swim in the pool during our visit!

Papa Metzger and her were exchanging funny faces! If only I got one of him to show too - they are hilarious together!
