Weekday Surprise

Last week Katy and I stopped at the store to pick up a few odds and ends and who do we run into, but Santa Clause!! Katy was super excited and couldn't believe Santa was at Krogers (neither could I!). He was outside greeting the customers with his little helper and the whole way across the parking lot, Katy was yelling at him saying "Hi" and waving and COULD NOT wait until she got to the door.

Although once we got to Santa, this little girl hid behind my leg and wasn't as outgoing as she was a few minutes ago. This was shocking as this girl doesn't have a shy bone in her body! But once Santa asked her what she wanted for Christmas, Katy came out from behind me, looked at him straight in the eye and said..."Perfume, please!". The look on his face was priceless and he said, "Well, that is something I don't hear everyday!" She then got her candy cane and we were off grocery shopping!

As you can see, she wasn't ready to sit on his lap. So we will see how it goes next weekend when she gets to see Santa again. He is visiting the Violet Fire Department to meet the families of the fireman and Uncle Chris invited us to attend!

Grocery Shopping

Even a trip to the grocery trip is an adventure! Katy has fallen in love with these oversized stuffed animals and can't help herself everytime we make a trip to Krogers.

While I was trying to decide which yogurt to buy, I heard Katy yelling at me down the aisle..."Mommy - take a picture of me and my friends!". I'm sure most of the people in Sunbury had thoughts that I need to take my child out more often, but we had fun and that's all that matters...right?!

This cracked me up because I had flash backs to my childhood and I loved hiding in clothing racks and jumping out and scaring my mother, and Katy thought this was a hoot too!

DJ Katy

I don't know how many of you remember my post about a month ago on my frustration on getting Katy ready and out the door to the sitters in the mornings...luckily Todd and I revised our morning plan (which now includes him!!) and it's been working out fabulously!

He now gets the pleasure of waking her up and gets her situated in the family room with her entourage...blanket, pillow, teddy bear, baby Brooke and as always her ni-night! She watches an episode of Blue's Clues and when that show is over I'm ready and its time for hair, shoes and coat. She's a lot like me, she needs her time to wake up and take on the day. She doesn't like to speak or move until her first cup of juice!

With that said, our conversations in the car on the way to Dru's are not filled with fighting or apologizing anymore and are usually filled with something funny I can reflect on throughout the day while at work. A great and HUGE improvement. Today's in particular cracked me up!!!

Katy: "Mommy, will you turn on the music?"

Me: "Ok"
--Now usually country music is her 1st choice but today that didn't satisfy her so...

Katy: "Can you change the station please? I don't like that song!"

Me: "What do you want listen to?"

Katy: "How about PPPPPokerface?"

Me: "Excuse me, what song did you want to hear?"

I'm not the kind of Mom that listens to kids music in the car...I'll put it on if requested, but usually Katy listens to what I listen to and is content with that. We listen to everything from country, pop, rock, you name it - I like variety!! It just amazes me what she picks up and what sticks in her brain!!

I hate it when my baby is sick!!

Katy started off with a cough on Thursday an by Friday it was the full force flu. The doctor diagnosed her with H1N1 and sent us home with a scrip of Tamiflu. By Friday night she was having a hard time breathing. We took her to bed with us and we are SO GLAD we did, because she coughed during her sleep which lead to choking which lead to her not being able to breath. Todd picked her up and somehow got her breathing and then she violently threw up. That was enough for Todd to declare we were going to the hospital! So at 10:30 PM we were on our way to Children's Hospital.

Wow - let me tell you that is an interesting and depressing place to be in the middle of the night. Katy was exhausted, but didn't dare to close her eyes afraid she was gong to miss something. Some of it I'd rather she wouldn't have seen!

Anyway - the nurses and doctors were awesome and did a chest x-ray on her to rule out pnuemonia and checked her from head to toe. The agreed it was a bad case of the flu and that we could take her home, but gave us a beathing treatment to help open her airways and help out her cough. So by 3 AM we were all back at home and finally in bed!

Luckily she has gotten better a little every day, but I've never seen her this sick!! It really breaks my heart to see her so pitiful and in such pain to talk, cough or even move!

This is when we were waiting for her chest x-ray and she and another little girl were fascinated with Sponge Bob. So as usual even if its 2 AM and were in a hospital I had to pull out the camera.

The day after the hospital and she wouldn't leave either of our sides, so she took a nap with Daddy and I was just so glad that she was getting some rest.

Kingdom of Bounce

Ok - this adventure was over 2 weeks ago, but either I haven't felt good or Katy hasn't so I'm a little behind! Aunt Bobo met us and we jumped the afternoon away!! We had a blast and will definitely be back!
